Esku pilota; this Basque word is made up of eskua=hand and pilota=ball
Esku pilota is a special variety of Basque handball. It is played without racquets and bats, and players use their hands to strike the ball. The players or pelotaris wrap them in tape and cloth to protect them. [Photography: Supereuskadi photo essay by artist Vicente Paredes]

BASOA

THE ELECTRONIC FOREST, TEMPLE OF ESCAPISM

The electronic lineup of Basoa is completed with the announcement of three of the most promising names in the electronic scene in Spain: Toccororo, Sama Yax, and Dalila. The sum of these three national DJs rounds out the 15 names of this edition’s lineup and one that is both eclectic and compact, avant-garde and purist. With Anz, Call Super, HAAi, Sama Yax, and Violet on Thursday; Ben Ufo, Sherelle, Job Jobse, Dinamarca, and Dalila on Friday and Young Marco, Avalon Emerson, John Talabot, GAZZI, and Toccororo on Saturday. It will again become a temple of escapism where the current gurus of the electronic scene will emerge, a forest that will become Europe’s most distinguished dance floor.

LASAI

MUSIC INNOVATION WITH THE BEST VIEWS OF BILBAO

Lasai arose to not exceed 100 beats per minute and has become the key stage to put the brakes on and leave room for the masters of slow tempos and high intensities. On the opening day, the stage will be inundated by the avant-garde sounds of  DJ Der, Formica, Olivia, Phoebe, and Xamana Jones. GAZZI will curate the stage on Friday, introducing 8kitoo, Malibu, Ouri, Senda Fatal, and Tenguerengue. Saturday’s curator will be Dinamarca including Fantasilandia, Ghazal, Kebra, Linnéa, and Sukumons on the lineup.

The sixteenth edition of Bilbao BBK Live has a lineup designed for the audience to savor every performance, allowing enough time to make the most of each moment, every sound, and every live performance in an unmatched location, making Bilbao BBK Live an exceptional experience.

AN EUSKO LABEL LINEUP

This announcement reveals a new image from the Supereuskadi photo essay by artist Vicente Paredes, esku pilota, which adds to the previously disclosed images, the harri-jasotzailes (stone lifters) and the legend of Tximistarri (lightning stone). Because at Bilbao BBK Live, art in all forms is as fundamental as music, as they share a common goal of revealing the identity and idiosyncrasy of the Basque country.

WE SOW AWARENESS AND OXYGEN

The festival organizers uphold their commitment to caring for natural environments. They will donate €3 for every ticket sold to the reforestation of the wooded land affected by the Balmaseda forest fire in November. The Enkarterri district is considered the ecological lung of Biscay.

Passes are still available on the festival’s tickets section and seetickets.com/es, with the convenience of purchasing in installments and booking camping access. Day tickets are available starting Thursday, 9 March, at a special price of €70.
