Third Day Marks Spectacular Closing for Bilbao BBK Live 2024
110,000 festival-goers have relished the music and nature in Kobetamendi
The closing day was marked by performances from Arcade Fire, Jungle, Alcalá Norte, El Columpio Asesino, and Mulatu Astatke.
Today, the festival concluded once again in the best possible way, featuring bands like Arcade Fire and Jungle, along with promising acts like Alcalá Norte. Kobetamendi gathered 110,000 people from over 50 countries over these three days, enjoying live music in nature at a well-organized and committed festival in the unique setting of Bilbao BBK Live.
THE THIRD DAY IN 10 GREAT MOMENTS:

7 The second edition of Irteera: An initiative organized by Fundación BBK and Bilbao BBK Live to promote sustainable mobility and reduce the carbon footprint over the three days of the festival. Participants enjoyed a fun walk accompanied by a brass band, which entertained the ascent, vibrating with music from kilometer zero.

8 The importance of the BALORE space. A place to visit during the event to learn about the festival’s commitment to environmental and social causes.

9 The elimination of plastic from the stages. The Nagusia stage was clad in wood, while the San Miguel stage featured a scale-like design made from a biomaterial based on bagasse and algae. Each scale, handcrafted individually, covered an area of almost 100 m². The production process for these scales generated zero waste, resulting in a positive carbon footprint. Additionally, the front of the Txiki stage was made from wool from Carranzana sheep, highlighting the use of natural, locally sourced materials and aiding the development of this wool, which was previously considered waste. After the festival, various garments will be made from this wool.

10 Eskerrik asko! Thank you very much! Once again, the festival wants to thank all the sponsors for their support, with a special mention to the Bilbao City Council. Without their involvement, achieving the goals for development and growth in this edition of Bilbao BBK Live would not have been possible. And, of course, a special thank you to the audience, who enjoyed the festival without incident and represented a wide range of ages and backgrounds. The younger crowd joined those who have been coming back year after year for the past 17 years. See you next year on July 10, 11, and 12.
Bilbao BBK Live celebrates a magical first day of its seventeenth edition
The performances of Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Air, and Sen Senra stand out in today’s artistic lineup.
Bilbao BBK Live has inaugurated its 2024 edition today. After a year of anticipation, the festival’s reunion with the audience has been magical. Massive Attack, who have achieved mythical status at the origins of trip hop, and The Prodigy, returning to Kobetamendi for the first time since Keith Flint’s passing, demonstrated that Maxime Reality and Liam Howlett lead the party wherever they go, showing their full prowess. These acts marked two of the standout moments of the day, but there were many more:
10 HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE FIRST DAY:
1 Martin Urrutia shines with his free-access performance in front of Sala BBK at the start of Bereziak, attracting a large number of fans and passers-by on Bilbao’s Gran Vía, kicking off the day on a high note.

BEREZIAK
As has been the case since the 2011 edition, not all the music will be heard solely from the heights of Kobetamendi. In the city, Bereziak is once again going strong, offering three days of free concerts for all audiences in different parts of the city center
The program kicks off on Thursday, July 11, with Martin Urrutia at Sala BBK, followed by a varied lineup on Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13, across three stages: Vueling Torres Isozaki, St. Petroni Jardines de Albia, and San Miguel Arenal. The latter will feature a musical bingo hosted by San Miguel, with a DJ playing hits between concerts, highlighting the greatest hits of Bilbao BBK Live.
Friday’s musical lineup will be eclectic, spanning the entire morning and early afternoon, and featuring Latin American electronic world music from Chancha via Circuito, urban R&B rhythms from Kyne and Oddliquor, indie rock staples La Habitación Roja, the irreverent Parquesvr, and the electrifying duo Repion.
On Saturday, July 13, the final day, the center of Bilbao will see the much-celebrated return of Nudozurdo, alongside electronic pop from Morreo, riot grrrls Lisasinson, 90s pop-punk comeback Samuraï, and catchy bars from Barry B and Teo Lucadamo.
THURSDAY, JULY 11: MASSIVE ATTACK, THE PRODIGY, AIR PERFORMING ‘MOON SAFARI’, LOS PLANETAS CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF ‘SUPER 8’
Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Folamour (A/V), Cymande, Death from Above 1979, and Sen Senra were the first confirmed acts for the opening day of Bilbao BBK Live. These will be joined by the sophisticated French electronic group AIR, performing their classic album Moon Safari live, an album that, more than 25 years later, still sounds as timeless as it did when it was released. Additionally, Los Planetas will celebrate 30 years of their iconic Super 8 album with a special concert. Joining the lineup is Shygirl with her Club Shy, a project that will invite you to dance to the most cutting-edge sounds of electropop and dance-pop from an artist who is constantly proving her unique character.
Orbit will offer nostalgic tunes with autotuned vocals, Mezerg will fuse electronic and acoustic elements, and the Irish band NewDad will explore dark and dreamy alternative rock.
Joining the national lineup is the young sensation stivijoes, who is on an unstoppable rise following the viral success of his single “Terapia.” Previously, we learned about names like the fast and brutal band El Buen Hijo and the hope of Madrid shoegaze, Dharmacide. On this first day, we will also enjoy the Murcian band Nunatak with their epic folk rock, the extraterrestrial psychedelia of Martín de Marte from Zarauzt, and the Bilbao collective Nexo Malito, which will feature its founder ALTA and CRRDR, an honored guest from Bogota and a master of raves and Latin sounds.
FRIDAY, JULY 12: GRACE JONES, UNDERWORLD, KHRUANGBIN, MEUTE, PARCELS, ALBERT PLA ‘Rumbagenarios’
The second day is headlined by the iconic artist Grace Jones, born in Jamaica and raised in New York. A symbol of the most extravagant underground, a regular at Studio 54, she seamlessly blends film, fashion, and music. Get ready for her at Bilbao BBK Live performing monumental dance hits like “Slave to the Rhythm” or “Corporate Cannibal.” Joining her are the first confirmed acts: Underworld, Khruangbin, Parcels, Jordan Rakei, or Ezra Collective, and high-energy live act MEUTE. The multifaceted Albert Pla, singer-songwriter, writer, musician, comedian, author (there’s nothing he can’t do!), will present his show “Rumbagenarios” at the festival. The Catalans Standstill, returning to Bilbao BBK Live after their 2015 disbandment, won’t miss the party. Rising stars like the young and revolutionary Aiko El Grupo and the essential band Karavana will also be there. The second day offers even more: be captivated by Cordoban artist María José Llergo’s “ULTRABELLEZA” or the Italian singer-songwriter Daniela Pes. Embrace the experimental pop of Ralphie Choo and the iconic celebrity, singer, and performer Samantha Hudson. Don’t miss the unique sounds of folk DJ Oro Jondo with his “gas station music” and the king of makina Parkineos.
Basque label artists are part of the festival’s DNA, and so there could be no absence of the Pamplona-based Melenas with their garage pop-psychedelic sound, the energetic EZEZEZ, the Lekeitio-based Silitia, or S T R, unique in their scene.
SATURDAY, JULY 13: ARCADE FIRE, JUNGLE, SLOWDIVE, FLOATING POINTS, ALVVAYS, CHALK
Joining the already announced Saturday lineup of Arcade Fire, Jungle, Alvvays, Floating Points, Noname, and El Columpio Asesino on their farewell tour, is the elegant electronic pop of the French artist LewisOfMan. In addition, we will have the essential Slowdive, with their recent album Everything Is Alive, and the most promising band from Northern Ireland according to the BBC, CHALK, creators of a DIY mix infused with techno and punk. The Icelandic duo Kiasmos will bring the perfect balance between ambient and electropop, and on the Anglo-Saxon side, the most viralized duo from the UK, Good Neighbours, will bring their acclaimed single Home (and much more). Joining the national lineup are the alternative rock band that everyone is talking about, Alcalá Norte, and the delicate pop of Alba Morena. The garage rockers Mujeres will pollinate all of Kobetamendi with their exaltation of rock and friendship, the Barcelonian Boye will bring his hedonistic anthems to the festival, and the Basque Oki Moki will present their characteristic lo-fi pop punk from the town of Guetaria. Bitxeando, Bilbao’s most successful indie afternoon event, could not be missed, with its godmother Inés Hernand at the helm alongside its founder, DJ Daniless, accompanied by David Van Bylen with his impossible mixes; thus adding different layers to a rich and diverse national lineup.
BASOA: AN ELECTRONIC SANCTUARY IN THE HEART OF THE FOREST
Basoa features key figures from the international club scene. Thursday will see energetic sets from Dj Tennis, Irish DJ Cormac, and queer rhythmic mixes from Ketiov. Sofia Kourtesis will offer an emotional house DJ set, and local talent Neska, creator of the multidisciplinary electronica parties, flora & fauna.
Friday’s offerings highlight innovative and compact talents like Marcel Dettmann, leader of the MDR and Bad Manners labels, along with Djrum’s smooth genre transitions. Ogazón will offer curated selections of house and techno; the stellar Parisian DJ Jennifer Cardini; and Dj Gostoso b2b Senda Fatal, two of the most dynamic figures in the Madrid club scene.
The closing of the festival on Saturday will be led by the almost mythical Nicola Cruz, bringing his evocative Latin American folk rhythms. Joining him will be the euphoric Bored Lord, straight from the vibrant Oakland underground scene, the fast and hot beats of Niki Lauda, and Budino’s master class in Italo disco. New Yorker Gabrielle Kwarteng, a DJ, radio host, and curator who has captivated Berlin’s Panorama Bar with her sets, also joins the lineup.
John Talabot was always envisioned for the closing of Basoa, this electronic oasis, since its creation. After 4 consecutive years of his now legendary ceremonial closings, which have become a religious experience for festival pilgrims, the DJ returns for a fifth and final time to Basoa, promising to turn the Kobetamendi forest into one of the most distinguished dance floors in Europe.
LASAI: SLOW DANCES WITH A VIEW OF BILBAO
Lasai focuses on tempos below 100 beats per minute, creating an essential space for slow, intense beats. Rinse FM will curate Thursday The Lasai stage establishes itself as an essential stop for those who want to lower their revolutions and enjoy the masters of slow tempos and high intensities. The opening day’s program, curated by Rinse FM, will bring the most avant-garde sounds with Aletha, Yaw Evans, Facta & K-Lone, FYI Robyn, Ben Hauke, and Thrintian. On Friday, the enigmatic Xamana Jones will weave his magic for the third consecutive year (those who were at his previous sets know what we’re talking about); the creator of Fiesta x Fiesta Baldman; the stimulating Lucient; the legendary DJ and producer Toni Bass; and the eccentric podcaster and selector Miguel Agnes. On Saturday, the Berlin artist JASSS will be responsible for hosting Bilbao’s most special viewpoint, alongside Lydo, Nathan Micay, and Nazar.
The 17th edition of Bilbao BBK Live presents a carefully crafted lineup to fully enjoy each performance, allowing you to savor every moment, every note, and every concert in a privileged natural setting. This combination makes Bilbao BBK Live an essential event within this summer’s festival circuit, and it’s not just us saying that: Bilbao BBK Live has recently been awarded the prizes for ‘Best Communication Campaign’, ‘Best Main Festival‘, and ‘Best Live Electronic Performance’ at the Iberian Festival Awards.
The festival organization is committed, once again, to real and local sustainability. Last Tour has been a BCorp company since 2023, and belonging to this global community of companies with a positive social impact is a driving force for the festival’s internal transformation and continuous improvement. Therefore, this edition will continue to emphasize the importance of raising awareness about accessibility, mobility, energy transition, inclusion, equality, climate change, and the urgency of protecting our natural environment. Sustainability is a strategic axis of Bilbao BBK Live.

Bilbao BBK Live is bringing music to the streets of Errekalde with Hirian on June 1st
Carlangas y Los Cubatas, Dillom, Alice Wonder, Putilatex, Doctor Explosión and up to 18 artists for a festive day of open access.
Hirian is back in Bilbao for its sixth edition on Saturday the 1st of June, this time celebrating live music in the streets of Errekalde, one of the city’s most distinctive neighbourhoods. Bilbao BBK Live festival’s traditional urban aperitif brings culture and diversity to a neighbourhood of the Biscayan capital each year; after Bilbao La Vieja, Deusto, Santutxu and Basurto, this time it is coming to Errekalde. Hirian, ‘In the city’ in Basque, will turn the streets and squares of the neighbourhood into a festive day of open access, with an avant-garde, eclectic musical programme open to all tastes.
Some of the most contemporary names in music will grace the Hirian stages. The former leader of Novedades Carminha never ceases to amaze us and is coming with his new project, Carlangas y Los Cubatas, a mixture of disco and rock full of sixties influences. Argentine rapper Dillom has just released a highly acclaimed concept album with which he descends into hades. The singer and songwriter from Madrid, Alice Wonder, is proof of the generational shift in music and shows great progression in each of her tracks. Putilatex define themselves as an “electro-punk band from Albacete”, with two decades on stage under their belt; there’s no doubt that their show will be a great party. Psychedelic garage-rock band Doctor Explosión have never gone unnoticed, and even less so since they delighted everyone with their version of Julio Iglesias’ Soy un truhán, soy un señor.
The explosive trio of DJs Coolnenas are revolutionising the dancefloors with their fun sessions. Euskoprincess create their own star-system through their shows and their songs, packed full of energy, freedom, and flirtation. The most powerful and current Basque rock comes from Ezpalak.
Germán y La Alegría del Barrio is the result of bringing together the seasoned Navarrese musician Germán Carrascosa with his band with its classic rock overtones. Drawing inspiration from hip-hop and French rap, HUDA takes elements from each style, interweaving them rhyme after rhyme, creating a personal style that leaves its mark. DJ Juguete, a reference of Madrid’s nightlife, is also joining the Hirian lineup.
The riot grrrls Las Odio hold nothing back and their live show is always packed full of honesty and rawness. Maren is a young artist from Bilbao and the Basque Country who will surely become a prophet in her homeland with her performance at Hirian. The young band Mirua from Gipuzkoa is characterised by their artistic restlessness and their desire to experiment with different musical styles, always with a contemporary vision.
The singular Asturian musician Pablo Und Destruktion is a restless and unpredictable creator who is always worth listening to. Pipiolas from the Canary Islands form a duo that draws from different musical genres and enriches them with emotional and spiritual elements. Ruptura is an artist from Murcia who has collaborated with Natalia Lacunza and Belén Aguilera and who mixes pop and dembow into her sets, among many other musical genres. Considered as the producer “capable of creating some of the best sounds in Spanish urban music” according to VICE, $kyhook has consolidated his sound, beat after beat.
Hirian is a project of Fundación Industrias Creativas, which together with Bilbao BBK Live, maintains its unwavering commitment to music, culture and diversity. This social project is consolidated with the aim of creating a unique experience that transcends the limits of the festival and becomes a catalyst for social change by promoting the participation of the entire population and adding value to the community it impacts. We would also like to thank the Bilbao City Council for their support, as without them it would not have been possible to hold this edition.
This year Hirian’s festive programme is coming to the streets of Errekalde. It will take place open air during the daytime on Saturday the 1st of June and with open access, as a preview of Bilbao BBK Live. The festival itself will be held on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of July at Kobetamendi and day tickets, passes and camping spots are already on sale at ticket’s page.
Creative Industries Foundation
Fundación Industrias Creativas was created in 2020 with the purpose of contributing to the development of culture as a basis for social transformation. It arises from the need to separate the purely business activity of the promoter Last Tour, from those initiatives with a strong social character, and its main motivation is to promote culture. The main lines of activity are research, dissemination, training and collaborative projects, through which it makes its contribution to a more cohesive, fair, innovative, positive society, capable of looking to the future with imaginative solutions to the challenges to be faced.

SATURDAY JULY 13. ARCADE FIRE, JUNGLE, SLOWDIVE, FLOATING POINTS, ALVVAYS, ZOE GOTUSSO
On Saturday, joining the previously announced Arcade Fire, Jungle, Alvvays, Floating Points, Noname, or El Columpio Asesino on their farewell tour, are the indispensable Slowdive, with its recent Everything Is Alivethe most promising band in Northern Ireland according to the BBC CHALKcreators of a DIY mix infused with techno and punk; hailing from Argentina, the boundless passion of Zoe Gotusso and her soundscapes rich in emotions and textures. Icelandic Kiasmos will provide the perfect balance between ambient and electropop. On the Anglo-Saxon side, the duo gone viral from the UK Good Neighbours will contribute their acclaimed single Home (and much more)
At the national level garage rockers Mujeres will pollinate Kobetamendi with their exaltation of rock and friendship, from Barcelona Boye will bring his hedonistic hymns to the festival, and the Basque Oki Moki will perform their signature pop-punk lo-fi from the locality of Guetaria..The day would not be complete without Bitxeando, the most successful indie evening performance in Bilbao with godmother Ines Hernand at the head joined by founder, DJ Daniless, accompanied by David Van Bylen with his impossible mixes. Thus, layer after layer will enrich this diverse national line-up.
BASOA. THE ELECTRONIC REFUGE IN THE HEART OF THE WOODS
Today we drop the names of the artists performing at the Basoa stage, a solid lineup with the most interesting references in the international club scene. On Thursday we will have one of the most energetic rhythms with the founder of the label Life and Death, Dj Tennis, who will join the acclaimed Irish DJ Cormac and the rhythmical, queer, sensual mixes of Ketiov. Plus, the talented Peruvian Sofía Kourtesis will introduce her moving house in a DJ set format. Local talent Neska, a Basque residing in Barcelona, and creator of multidisciplinary electronic parties flora & fauna, will also perform.
Friday is brimming with innovative and compact talent along the lines of Marcel Dettmann, leader of labels MDR and Bad Manners, and fluid transitions among disc jockey DJs genres with Djrum. The electronic sanctuary will also welcome Ogazón, who will offer tasteful selections of house and techno; stellar Parisian DJ Jennifer Cardini, and Dj Gostoso b2b Senda Fatal, two of the most dynamic personalities in the Madrid club scene.
The festival will close on Saturday with the nearly mythic Nicola Cruz, who brings his evocative Latin-American folk rhythms; the euphoric Bored Lord, straight from the vibrant underground scene in Oakland; the high tempo and heat of Niki Lauda and t he Italian disco master class Budino.
When the Basoa stage was created, John Talabot was always in the festival’s mind to close this electronic oasis. After 4 consecutive years of his now iconic ceremonial closings, which have become a religious experience for the pilgrims to the festival, the DJ is back at Basoa for the fifth and last time, with the promise to transform the Kobetamendi forest into one of the most distinguished dance floors in Europe.
LASAI. SWAY SLOWLY WHILE OVERLOOKING BILBAO
All performances on the Lasai stage must not exceed 100 beats per minute, welcoming all those who wish to give themselves a moment to unwind and enjoy the masters of slow tempos and high intensities lookout point in Bilbao. On Saturday JASSS will host the most special lookout point in Bilbao.
The seventeenth edition of Bilbao BBK Live introduces a carefully crafted lineup designed to fully enjoy each performance, allowing each participant to enjoy each moment, note, and concert, in a privileged natural setting. This combination makes Bilbao BBK Live an event you cannot miss among the summer festivals, and others are saying it too! Bilbao BBK Live unveils the first artists of its 2024 edition: Arcade Fire, Jungle, Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Underworld, Khruangbin, Parcels and many more
Alvvays, Ezra Collective, Mulatu Astatke, El Columpio Asesino, Los Bitchos, Folamour (A/V), Sen Senra, Death from Above 1979, Overmono, JPEGMAFIA, Noname, Zea Mays and Ralphie Choo are also joining the festival’s ecosystem
As with every edition, Kobetamendi will be the festival’s natural stage, taking place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of July 2024
Today, from its nucleus Kobetamendi, Bilbao BBK Live unveils the first clues to its lineup; in doing so opening a window to its landscape, allowing us to get a glimpse of the artists who will tread its emblematic hillside. We can already recognise the outline of some of the bands and artists who will make up the ecosystem of Bilbao BBK Live next 11th, 12th, and 13th of July 2024. Up to 29 artists will be joining this initial lineup, creating a space where music combines with nature; an experience which can only be enjoyed from the inside.
Experience it and feel it, from the inside
The festival is rich in biodiversity and will host leading artists from contemporary music, intergenerational artists, up-and-coming voices, experimental projects and long-awaited comebacks. The most contemporary indie band from Canada, Arcade Fire, will resume its tremendous live performance after their success at the Cala Mijas and MEO Kalorama festivals last September and Jungle will start a funk party surrounded by native vegetation. We won’t have to go without the Bristol-born creators of trip-hop, Massive Attack, nor the maestros and creators of great electronic anthems from the 2000s, The Prodigy and Underworld. The Texan trio Khruangbin, which means plane in Thai, will take attendees on the most psychedelic trip of their lives and the Australians, Parcels, will shatter the boundaries between indie and electronica. But this is still only a first glimpse of the lineup, from the inside.
From this first instalment we can see UK talent will be represented: In the lineup, Anglo-Saxon music’s up-and-coming groups Overmono and Folamour in A/V format will be the flag bearers for eclectic electronica, Los Bitchos with their 70s and 80s cumbia, the mellow tones of the London based New Zealander Jordan Rakei, the UK Jazz five-piece Ezra Collective, combining soul, hip-hop, calypso and afrobeat, as well as Floating Points’ immense live performance musical repertoire. What’s more, the highly versatile JPEGMAFIA and his provocative avant-garde rap, Alvvays’ catchy melodies and the creative rapper from Chicago, Noname, will visit Basque soil for the first time.
The festival hosts a whole pallet of greens, lush textures and eloquent sounds, that’s why it is essential to shine the spotlight on Mulatu Astatke, also known as the father of ethio-jazz; he will be representing the front-line of world music directly from Kobetamendi. Along the same musical lines, Cymande will be there; the band which was formed in the 70s by various musicians from Jamaica and French Guiana are not the most frequent in giving concerts, yet Bilbao BBK Live is the exception. As is Death from Above 1979, infrequent but always true to their essence; they will be performing their hard rock at the festival.
The diversity of the lineup isn’t lacking the national representation necessary to understand the festival’s balanced atmosphere: a compulsory stop on El Columpio Asesino’s farewell tour, the Madrid-born supernova Ralphie Choo who has won over Rosalia, the honest and personal lyrics from Jimena Amarillo, Catalonian Queralt Lahoz’s Andalusian roots, the puñao’ de sensaciones (handful of sensations) that Sen Senra arouses with his bedroom pop, Derby Motoreta’s Burrito Kachimba’s kinkidelia (a rethinking of Andalusian rock with psychedelic touches), and Nerve Agent’s punk metal.
The artists with Eusko label are part of the festival’s DNA; local stars such as Zea Mays, the character, energy and hit-making machine that is Shinova or the melodic sentimentalism of Airu will also be present at the Kobetamendi peak.
A calibrated ecosystem
Bilbao BBK Live is much more than music; it’s a parallel world which will immerse its attendees into their surroundings over the course of 3 days, blending into the great living machine which can only be understood from the inside; from its infinite possibilities, parallel routes and alternative paths that each attendee chooses to embark on during this experience.
From tomorrow, November 29th and until the 1st of December the tickets for 2024 will be available on the website and feverup.com websites to purchase at a special price. General sale will begin on the 1st of December at 10:01, with the possibility of paying in instalments and adding camping.

Bilbao BBK Live: a cultural and social project
The first edition of Herrian will be held in the towns of Lekeitio and Mungia on June 3 and 10 respectively. The intention is to energise these town’s streets and bring culture to places that don’t have easy access to it and that offer less cultural content.
Bilbao BBK Live has established itself as one of the most outstanding cultural projects in Europe. The festival seeks to enrich the city’s cultural offering and to be a cultural and social tool that adds value to Bilbao, and now, also to greater Biscay. That is why today BBK and Fundación Industrias Creativas [a Creative Industries Foundation in the Basque Country] are presenting activities which will run parallel to the festival. The new standout activity this year is Herrian.
Bilbao BBK Live was born in Kobetamendi in 2006 and has been establishing and defining itself as one of the great qualitative projects in Europe. Since 2011, Bereziak has been boosting the city centre by bringing the spirit of the festival and the live music experience to the public. Six years later Hirian was born, with the aim of bringing interesting artistic offerings to the Biscayan capital’s neighbourhoods: Bilbao La Vieja, Deusto, Santutxu and this edition, Basurto. This year, because of the evolution of the festival, which goes beyond cultural and social barriers, the festival is expanding its horizons with Herrian which adds value and connects municipalities throughout Biscay.
The first edition of Herrian, is born from the union of BBK and Fundación Industrias Creativas, which together alongside Bilbao BBK Live maintain their unwavering commitment to music, culture, and diversity. This social project is established with the aim of creating a unique experience that goes beyond festival limits and becomes a catalyst for social change and cultural enrichment, adding value to citizen’s lives and giving them free access. Herrian also aims to spread music beyond the borders of Bilbao and will do so on June 3 and 10 in Lekeitio and Mungia by bringing an enriching cultural offering to places that are often limited in their access to cultural events in the capital.
BBK Managing Director Gorka Martínez regarding Herrian says: “This year, we want to take things one step further and go beyond the capital to bring the essence of Bilbao BBK Live to our villages. And we are going to do just that with Herrian: a travelling festival that aims to visit different municipalities in Biscay, and to bring culture through music to the citizenry. With this initiative we want to support current musical proposals and local talent. We want it to be a framework to raise awareness about the diversity of Biscayan society, while also seeking to value the use of the Basque language as well as gender identity. And all this happens within the framework of an accessible and sustainable event which has room for 0 Km workshops and gastronomy offerings that are organized in close collaboration with local players.”
HIRIAN AT BASURTO
For one day Hirian will turn the streets and squares of the emblematic Basurto district into a concrete party with a diverse and avant-garde programming. On Saturday, June 17 for 10 hours, 23 artists will grace the four stages distributed throughout the neighbourhood.
BEREZIAK, the festival comes down to town
Bereziak will continue to be the open access event that brings the spirit of Bilbao BBK Live to the city and promotes dialogue between citizens and major cultural events. This way, the local public will be able to enjoy interesting and exclusive artistic offerings that are often not part of the festival’s lineup.

Bilbao BBK Live adds Phoenix, Fever Ray, Jamie xx, Duki, M83, Röyksopp and IDLES to the 2023 lineup
HAAi, Amaia, Dry Cleaning, Anz, Sherelle, GAZZI, and more artists also join this second round of festival confirmations
The sixteenth edition of the festival will be held on July 6, 7, and 8, 2023 at Kobetamendi
In this second batch of confirmations, the visual identity of the festival continues to star the snapshots of Supereuskadi, the photographic essay of the artist Vicente Paredes, this time with the legend of Tximistarri as the protagonist
Tximistarri; basque word composed of Tximista=Bold and Harri=Stone
The legend continues. The artists of the next edition of Bilbao BBK Live 2023, to be held next July 6, 7, and 8 in Kobetamendi continue to be revealed. And in the same way, the images that will accompany the graphic image of this sixteenth edition of the festival are being unveiled. As artists of the stature of Arctic Monkeys, Florence + The Machine, The Chemical Brothers, and The Blaze already head the lineup, a new batch of artists are arriving in early-Christmas-gift form to complete the already formidable 2023 list.
The emblematic French pop of Phoenix; the eclecticism of the former half of The Knife with his solo project Fever Ray; the big brother of Argentine trap Duki; the instrumental and electronic M83; the ethical and political punk rock of IDLES; the brilliant Nordic electronica of Röyksopp; and the digger and member of The xx Jamie xx headline this second round of artists. Two bastions of post-punk in its place of origin join the line-up: Dry Cleaning from London and Ireland’s The Murder Capital. The national talent is represented by the multifaceted and angelic voice of Amaia; the Montgrí guitars of Cala Vento; and the wildest punk energy of La Élite. While the electronic cast of Basoa expands with the addition of names like Anz, Avalon Emerson, HAAi, Sherelle, GAZZI, and John Talabot.
At Bilbao BBK Live art in all its forms is as fundamental as its poster—and we are coming from an image as powerful as that of los harrijasotzailes. Now the poster stars the legend of Tximistarri, this being the fourth image that reveals the festival as part of the art-music alliance between artist Vicente Paredes and Bilbao BBK Live, with the common goal of showing the identity and idiosyncrasy of Euskadi.
The Organization of the festival, always committed to the care of natural areas, will allocate €3 from each pass sold to the reforestation of the area affected by the fires in the town of Balmaseda, in Enkarterri, the lungs of Bizkaia.
Passes are still on sale at the tickets page and seetickets.com, with the possibility of paying in installments and purchasing passes with camping included.
